Daedong Mobility, LG Energy Solution’s KooRoo, Manna, BaroGo, and Vroong to promote the distribution of two-wheeled electric vehicles and develop the BSS infrastructure across Seoul

- Five companies will cooperate to speed up the distribution of two-wheeled electric vehicles and battery swap stations in Seoul to reduce air pollution and noise
- Daedong Mobility's electric two-wheeler GS100 is available at KRW 2.93 million with a KRW 1.5 million discount and government subsidies
- Agreement covers the sales/maintenance of two-wheeled electric vehicles, building up the BSS infrastructure, and advertisements to recruit delivery riders, etc.

Five companies, including Daedong Mobility, have joined forces to expand the supply of two-wheeled electric vehicles (EVs) across Seoul.

Daedong Mobility (CEO: Won Yu-Hyun), Daedong Group’s subsidiary specializing in smart mobility, has agreed to form an “Eco Seoul Green (ESG) consortium” with four other partners - LG Energy Solution’s KooRoo, delivery agency Manna Corporation (Manna Plus), BaroGo, and Vroong - to revitalize the distribution of two-wheeled EVs and battery swap stations (BSSs) in Seoul.

The five companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to encourage the use and purchase of two-wheeled EVs for delivery purposes, reduce the burden of product purchase/rental costs, expand the BSS infrastructure across Seoul, and prove the performance of two-wheeled EVs in real-life conditions with multiple riders. By doing so, the consortium wants to distribute eco-friendly two-wheeled EVs and BSSs quickly, especially in Seoul, and help solve air pollution and noise issues caused by two-wheeled vehicles (motorcycles, scooters, etc.) powered by conventional internal combustion engines.

On March 26. Daedong Mobility signed an “Eco Seoul Green (ESG)” business agreement at Daedong's Seoul office (2493, Nambusunhwan-ro, Seocho-gu, Seoul) to supply two-wheeled EVs and improve the BSS infrastructure in Seoul. The agreement was signed to create a consortium with KooRoo, an independent subsidiary within LG Energy Solution, and delivery agencies Manna Corporation, BaroGo, and Vroong. In attendance were (from the left) Choi Byeong-jun (COO of Last Mile Business at Vroong), Lee Kuk-jae (Director Mobility at Manna Corporation), Kwon Gi-jae (Vice President of Operations at Daedong Mobility), Jeong Hyeong-seong (Director of Business Development at LG Energy Solution), and Cho Hyeong-kwon (CLO of Business Development at BaroGo).

As part of the new MOU, Daedong Mobility and KooRoo, an in-house independent subsidiary within LG Energy Solution, are planning a joint promotional offer with discounts and benefits of up to KRW 1.5 million when purchasing Daedong Mobility's electric two-wheeler GS100. The offer will cover the first 300 GS100 units sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Prospective buyers can ask for additional details and sign up for the promo offer via the online channels operated by Daedong Mobility, KooRoo, or the three delivery agencies participating in the consortium. Benefits, including a variety of purchase options in terms of purchase price, rental cost discounts, and incentives for eco-friendly deliveries, are extended to delivery riders only.

The GS100 comes in the standard model (KRW 1.92 million) and a shared model (KRW 1.15 million) depending on the battery and charging cradle. The shared model, using the promotional KooRoo Battery Station, can be purchased for KRW 2.93 million with a discount of up to KRW 1.5 million and government subsidies. The standard model, which comes with a battery and its own charging cradle, is priced at KRW 4.99 million with government subsidies and Daedong Mobility's own promo offer. However, additional subsidies are available when using the standard model for deliveries, if the buyer scraps an internal combustion engine vehicle, for small business owners, and for other low-income or at-risk households.

Under the MOU, Daedong Mobility will take on the role of operating the channel to provide related services such as electric two-wheeler sales and repair/maintenance. Accordingly, the company will work with its partners to help consumers buy two-wheeled EVs either online or in person, and offer access to maintenance and repair services.

Meanwhile, LG Energy Solution’s KooRoo plans to make two-wheeled EVs much easier and hassle-free by building up the infrastructure for two-wheeled EVs and offering consistent services, mostly across Seoul, to stimulate BSS services. The three major delivery agencies, Manna Corporation, BaroGo, and Vroong, plan on launching various promotional offers of their own to encourage the use of two-wheeled EVs, and use delivery incentives to benefit delivery riders.

Meanwhile, Daedong Mobility's GS100 is a two-wheeled EV with a replaceable battery that can be charged at BSS. This means no more waiting around for the battery to charge, and riders can choose the right battery plan they need at KooRoo’s BSS. Of course, riders can charge their GS100 using their own personal charger as well. The GS100 can travel up to 70km (when driving at a constant speed of 60km) on a single charge and has a maximum speed of 90km/h.

Another advantage of the GS100 is that it is packed with features to keep riders comfortable and safe, including front and rear dash cams as standard, a smart key system, a mobile phone holder, a height-adjustable windscreen, and a storage compartment large enough for a full-size helmet. Currently, Daedong is hosting a special event where prospective buyers can apply online for a test drive (no waiting required). The GS110, a more economical version of the GS100, is also scheduled for launch sometime during the first half of the year.
