Daedong Group wins a “Triple Crown” at the 2024 Pin Up Design Awards

- Daedong earns a “Triple Crown,” winning the Best of the Best and Best 100 awards with its autonomous pest control/transport robots, GX tractor, and GS100 Lite electric scooter
- The GX tractor follows up its success in the Transportation category for Excellent Industrial Design at the Good Design Award in September last year with the Best 100 award

Daedong Group won a “triple crown” at the 2024 Pin Up Design Awards.

Daedong (co-CEOs Kim Jun-Sik and Won Yu-Hyun), a leader and pioneer in future agriculture, announced on January 24 that it earned a “triple crown” in the Industrial Design category with its autonomous pest control/transport robot, the GX tractor, and GS100 Lite electric scooter at the “2024 Pin Up Design Awards” ceremony held at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza on January 22. A design competition organized by the Korea Association of Industrial Designers and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Pin Up Design Awards is considered one of the most prestigious design awards along with the Good Design (GD) Award.

 

Daedong's autonomous pest control/transport robot won the top prize, the “Best of Best” award, distilling Daedong's design philosophy into a futuristic and progressive style, while also integrating autonomous driving and ICT technologies. This robot model, set to be released in the first quarter of this year, was developed with a focus on minimizing operator input or manipulation. It autonomously follows the operator at a certain distance, solving the issue with similar products of having to operate the machinery manually when harvesting fruit. In addition, it comes with a loading box that can carry up to 300kg and basic lift/dump functions, enabling the operator to focus on the task at hand and work more efficiently.

 

Meanwhile, Daedong's GX tractor and Daedong Mobility's electric scooter GS100 Lite were selected for the main prize, the “Best 100” award as well. The GX tractor is Daedong's flagship model that visually blends powerful performance and dynamism with overwhelming proportions and refined details, applying Daedong's design identity, “Ultimate Refinement.” The tractor creates a strong impression by combining charcoal gray and black with red, Daedong's identity color, at the center and it exudes a sense of luxury and comfort with two-tone (beige and black) upholstery inside the cab. The GX tractor’s design proved to be highly marketable when it was selected for its Excellent Industrial Design in the Transportation category at the 2024 Good Design Award last September. The GS100 Lite was listed in the Best 100, earning excellent marks for its sleek and high-tech exterior design typical of an electric mobility device. The GS100 Lite features an intuitive interface design for users on a 7-inch digital LCD cluster that can provide information such as speed and remaining battery life, and different driving modes. Moreover, it is equipped with a multi-bar for mounting smartphones and other devices, storage space under the seat that can accommodate a full-size helmet, and a spacious footwell for added user convenience.
