Daedong’s AI plant cultivator, giving customers a wider range of experiences with Samsung Electronics at CES
- First agricultural machinery company to participate in CES, present its "AI to the field" vision that applies AI to agricultural sites
- Daedong will showcase its AI cultivator at both Daedong and Samsung Electronics booths, highlighting its customized crop cultivation environment features powered by AI
- The company plans to connect its AI cultivator with Samsung Electronics' “SmartThings” platform in the future to offer a broader range of customer experiences
Daedong (co-CEOs Kim Jun-Sik and Won Yu-Hyun), a leader and pioneer in future agriculture, announced on January 9 that it is showcasing its AI plant cultivator at CES 2025, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) until January 10 (local time). To give customers around the world a chance to experience its AI cultivator, the company will set up the device at its own booth and Samsung Electronics’ booth as well.

Daedong is the first Korean agricultural machinery company to participate in CES 2025. It plans on preparing its booth under the concept of “AI to the field” and introducing advanced AI-driven technologies such as ▲multi-functional agricultural robots, ▲precision agriculture, and ▲AI plant cultivators to the international market. At CES 2025 Daedong will unveil its blueprint for future agriculture powered by AI, which is a follow-up to its vision – i.e. becoming a leading company in future agriculture - shared back in 2020, and the company’s efforts so far to develop AI-powered agricultural technology to maximize agricultural productivity.
The AI plant cultivator, winner of the CES 2025 Innovation Award, is a product that allows anyone to easily harvest plants using AI and agricultural big data. The cultivator uses a camera with built-in AI software to recognize seed capsules and automatically control the cultivation environment, including temperature, humidity, light intensity, and nutrient solution for each plant. It can also analyze growth conditions and predict harvest times. Daedong is also introducing a range of general and functional crops with their efficacies (i.e. functional substances) maximized through research for the AI plant cultivator to improve each variety.

Daedong's AI plant cultivator will be available at Samsung Electronics' booth in the Care Zone at CES 2025, showcasing plants such as basil and marigold being grown using the device, to welcome visitors. Daedong explained that the AI plant cultivator aligns with Samsung Electronics' pursuit of expanding their portfolio of integrated connected experiences tailored to customer lifestyles, as it allows anyone to grow plants at home without special knowledge using “Smart Farming” technology, and as a smart home device, the AI plant cultivator helps people harvest plants tailored to their health needs. Going forward, Daedong is hoping to provide a wider variety of customer experiences by interfacing its AI plant cultivator with Samsung Electronics' Internet of Things (IoT) platform “SmartThings,” which connects and controls smart devices.
