Daedong, a leader and pioneer in future agriculture (Co-CEOs Kim Jun-sik and Won Yu-hyun), announced on April 14 that it will provide 49 of its agricultural machines, including tractors, cultivators, and transport robots, free of charge to farmers in wildfire-affected areas of Gyeongsangbuk-do until the end of this year.

In Andong-si, Uiseong-gun, Cheongsong-gun, Yeongyang-gun, and Yeongdeok-gun (the five cities and counties in Gyeongsangbuk-do affected by wildfires), damage to agricultural machinery is estimated at over 850 tractors and cultivators combined. The company explained that it is actively cooperating with local agricultural technology centers and municipal governments to help affected farmers recover quickly, and that this free equipment rental program is part of those efforts. Daedong plans to develop ongoing support measures to minimize the difficulties faced by affected farmers, ensuring that this free rental program is not just a one-time initiative.
To start, on April 7 and 8, Daedong delivered nine tractors to agricultural technology centers in the areas most severely affected by the wildfires. The available rental fleet includes the full range of models, from the DK series (small and medium-sized) to the HX series (medium and large-sized), so that each farm can rent machinery with the horsepower best suited to its needs. In addition, certain models come pre-equipped with loaders and rotary attachments so that farmers can put the machinery to immediate use upon rental.
Given that many of the affected areas are home to fruit farms, 20 RT100 transport robots will also be provided. The RT100 is easy to operate via wired controls and features four-wheel drive for rough terrain, on-the-spot turning, lift and dump functions, and more. It is expected to be useful not only for agricultural work but also for transporting debris and waste generated by the fires. For cultivators, the category with the highest number of damaged units, 20 will be loaned free of charge. In addition, Daedong will offer special support benefits for tractor purchases to help ease the financial burden on affected farmers.
The company is also providing manpower support in addition to equipment rental. Daedong has assembled a dedicated team to carry out free maintenance on agricultural machinery and is considering dispatching volunteer teams to offer even more practical assistance. Furthermore, essential daily necessities will be provided to farmers who have lost their homes.
