Daedong Signs MOU with Ukraine’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food to Support Agricultural Reconstruction

- Establishing a long-term cooperation framework for agricultural recovery and talent development in Ukraine
- Donating tractors to local universities to support vocational training and the establishment of technical standards
- Building a foundation for expanded strategic partnerships with the Ukrainian government and industry through the MOU

Daedong (Co-CEOs Kim Jun-sik and Won Yu-hyun), a leader in future agriculture, announced on July 23 that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine to provide education and technical support for agricultural machinery. Through this agreement, Daedong aims to establish a mid- to long-term cooperation framework to contribute to the reconstruction and modernization of Ukraine’s agricultural sector.

Daedong (Co-CEOs Kim Jun-sik and Won Yu-hyun), a leader in future agriculture, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine on July 22 to provide education and technical support for agricultural machinery. The signing ceremony was held virtually. From Daedong, participants included (from left) Kang Deok-woong, Head of Overseas Business Division; CEO Won Yu-hyun; and Han In-gi, Head of the CCE Business Division. Representing Ukraine were (from left) Oleksandr Denysenko, Member of the Odessa Regional Council; Taras Vysotskyi, Acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food; Oksana Osmachko, Deputy Minister; and Mykola Moroz, Head of the Rural Development Agency.

The MOU was signed to support the mechanization and sustainable development of Ukrainian agriculture. Both parties will pursue step-by-step collaboration on vocational training and technical support in the agricultural field. Both parties agreed to focus on cultivating local talent through advanced agricultural machinery training, jointly advancing modern agricultural technologies, and establishing technical standards, with the shared goal of contributing to the practical reconstruction of Ukraine’s agricultural sector in the post-war era. Daedong is the only Korean agricultural machinery company to have officially signed an MOU with Ukraine’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food for agricultural reconstruction.

Under the agreement, Daedong will provide educational content on the use of modern Korean agricultural machinery to institutions under the Ministry. When related training programs are operated locally, the company plans to deliver practical support such as dispatching instructors and offering technical consulting. Through these efforts, Daedong aims to support talent development and the dissemination of advanced technologies in Ukraine’s agricultural sector. As part of this cooperation, Daedong will also donate one tractor each to six local universities, helping students gain hands-on training opportunities while supporting the establishment of technical standards in agricultural education.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine will oversee the selection of partner educational institutions and provide administrative support to ensure the smooth execution of the cooperation programs. It will also coordinate with relevant regional governments and institutions. The Ministry further intends to establish an institutional framework that will secure the long-term sustainability and growth of the programs.

This MOU goes beyond the simple export of agricultural machinery. It reflects Daedong’s commitment to advancing global agriculture while building an international cooperation model founded on trust. By supporting the post-war recovery of Ukraine’s agricultural sector and helping to boost productivity through mechanization and unmanned technologies, Daedong is also laying the foundation for expanding strategic partnerships with both the Ukrainian government and the local industry. The company anticipates that the agreement will not only raise awareness of the "KIOTI" brand, but also open the door to a range of mid- to long-term business opportunities. These include participation in future agricultural projects, collaboration with government-led initiatives, and further strengthening its position in the market.

In November last year, Daedong became the first Korean agricultural machinery company to re-enter the Ukrainian market after the outbreak of the war by signing a three-year tractor supply contract worth approximately KRW 30 billion (approx. USD 22 million) with a local distributor. Based on this agreement, the company has been supplying its mid- to large-sized PX and HX series tractors since January and plans to steadily increase supply volumes over time. Daedong is also actively working to establish a strong market presence by leveraging its local dealer network. Recent efforts include participation in Ukraine’s agricultural machinery exhibition in May, along with a series of other initiatives to build long-term stability and trust in the market.
