Daedong Begins Building Cybersecurity System to Comply with EU CRA

-. Daedong to build a new cybersecurity system by early 2027 as part of its European market expansion
-. Company to meet CRA standards through dedicated controllers and cybersecurity infrastructure
-. Ongoing upgrades planned to stay ahead of global security regulations

Daedong (Co-CEOs Kim Jun-sik and Won Yu-hyun), a leader in future agriculture, announced on September 18, 2025, that it has begun developing a cybersecurity system to comply with the European Union’s Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).

The CRA is a new regulation that will take effect in December 2027 and requires most digital products sold in Europe to meet mandatory security standards. The law covers risk management before product launch, delivery of security updates, incident reporting, and submission of a Software Bill of Materials (SBOM). Noncompliance may result in fines of up to €15 million or 2.5% of global revenue, whichever is greater, as well as restrictions on sales or market withdrawal.

Daedong has begun preparing proactively for these changes as part of its strategy to accelerate expansion in the European agricultural machinery market. The company has conducted tractor vulnerability analyses through PESCARO, a vehicle-integrated security platform provider, and plans to strengthen product security by introducing specialized cybersecurity controllers within this year. Daedong also plans to establish a dedicated cybersecurity IT infrastructure called the CSMS Portal, which will automate cybersecurity operations and manage security assets, SBOM-based software configuration, and field monitoring of potential vehicle threats. Through this system, the company aims to secure full lifecycle cybersecurity management capabilities by the first quarter of 2027.

The new security system will first be applied to Daedong’s tractor models supplied to Europe. These export models already include, or will soon feature, advanced technologies such as remote diagnostics and management, autonomous driving, and over-the-air (OTA) updates. As such, implementing technical measures that meet the CRA’s stringent security standards is essential. Daedong plans to use this CRA compliance initiative to internalize its cybersecurity capabilities. The company will continue improving and inspecting its systems to actively respond to evolving global cybersecurity regulations.

Na Yeong-jung, Head of P.Biz Development at Daedong, said, “For manufacturers preparing to enter the European market, the CRA is not a choice but a necessity. By establishing security systems that meet global standards, we will enhance product reliability and further strengthen our brand competitiveness in Europe.”

Meanwhile, Daedong continues to expand its presence in Europe, which it has designated as its second strategic base. The company has been rolling out an aggressive market strategy that includes offering a seven-year free warranty on all tractor models in 2025 and launching premium mid- to large-size products. Its CRA compliance efforts are part of this broader initiative to strengthen its foothold in the European market.
