Daedong is accelerating its transformation into a global AI agricultural operating platform company

Daedong announced on June 20 that it unveiled the Group’s mid- to long-term growth strategy and corporate value-up roadmap at Daedong Group Investor Day, held on June 19 at the Korea Investment & Securities headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul. The event was attended by institutional investors and included presentations by Na Yeong-jung, Head of Group Management at Daedong, Seo Jong-hwan, CEO of Daedong Gear, and Lee Pung-woo, CEO of Daedong Metals.

At the event, Daedong presented its vision to evolve beyond an agricultural machinery manufacturer into an AI Agriculture Operating Platform companyUsing Agricultural Physical AI technology, Daedong plans to expand its AI agricultural operating platform business by bringing together AI-powered autonomous agricultural machinery, agricultural robots, connected services, precision farming and smart farming under one integrated operating system. The platform will collect and analyze agricultural data, enable AI to recommend and determine the optimal work method, and have AI agricultural robots carry out the work in the field.

The strategy is to create a closed-loop operating cycle that continuously improves both AI performance and operational efficiency. The cycle begins with agricultural data collection, followed by AI analysis and decision-making, equipment and robot operation, performance validation and renewed data accumulation. Through this model, Daedong aims to build a platform business that provides seamless operating services across the entire farming process, even after equipment has been sold. Based on this strategy, Daedong has set 2030 targets of KRW 3.59 trillion in consolidated revenue, an EBIT margin of 10.55% and ROIC of 17.59%.

■ Validating AI Agricultural Operations in Korea to Build a Foundation for Global Expansion

Daedong plans to first validate and refine its AI agricultural operating platform in Korea. While Korea’s agricultural machinery market is currently estimated at KRW 2 trillion to KRW 3 trillion a year, Daedong sees a much larger opportunity in agricultural operating expenditure (OPEX), including labor, input materials, facility operations and farm work management, which it estimates could reach KRW 8 trillion to KRW 12 trillion. The company is currently testing automation and efficiency gains in open-field farming, including rice paddies and dry fields, using AI tractors equipped with autonomous driving and autonomous operation capabilities together with precision farming solutions.

Daedong has already secured a 376-hectare precision farming demonstration complex in Saemangeum, equivalent to about 1.14 million pyeong, where it is collecting precision farming data and testing AI-powered autonomous operations for strategic crops such as paddy soybeans and wheat. The company has also seen measurable results from its garlic precision farming demonstration project in Boeun, Chungcheongbuk-do, where participating farms recorded an average 26.2% increase in additional income. Daedong emphasized that precision farming-based operational optimization is translating into real improvements in farm profitability and productivity.

In greenhouse farming, Daedong is working to build 21.6 hectares of AI greenhouses through the National Agricultural AX Platform project in Muan, Jeollanam-do. As a national-level project designed to validate AI-based smart farming and data-driven operations at scale, the initiative is expected to become a key reference case for assessing the commercial potential of Daedong’s AI agricultural operating platform in the greenhouse sector.

Based on this foundation, Daedong has set a 2030 target of KRW 445.3 billion in domestic revenue and a 50% market share. Starting from KRW 249.6 billion in domestic revenue in 2025, the company aims to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.3% through 2030. After validating its AI agricultural operating model in Korea, Daedong plans to expand the model into North America and Europe through its dealer networks in those markets.

■ Scaling the Global AI Agricultural Operating Platform Through Dealer Networks in North America and Europe

In North America, Daedong plans to strengthen its presence in the small and mid-sized farm market with AI tractors and connected precision farming solutions. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), around 82.3% of farms in North America have yet to adopt precision farming, while established global agricultural machinery companies have largely focused on high-priced package solutions for large-scale farms.

Daedong is focusing on this gap with its “Affordable AI” strategy. Using its dealer and service networks, the company plans to offer 90- to 140-horsepower AI tractors and precision farming solutions at competitive price points. The goal is to lower the barrier to adoption for small and mid-sized farms and accelerate the spread of AI agricultural operating services. Through this strategy, Daedong aims to grow its North American revenue from KRW 718.2 billion in 2025 to around KRW 1 trillion by 2030. It also plans to increase its market share from the current 9% to 12% and expand its dealer network from 571 locations to 1,100.

In Europe, Daedong plans to build on its existing dealer network to expand sales of mid- to high-horsepower tractors and AI precision farming solutions. The company will target the 90- to 140-horsepower tractor segment, which accounts for about 40.6% of the overall market, by pairing AI autonomous operation with precision farming solutions. It also plans to establish an EU-wide operating platform and expand AI-based services such as connected services, over-the-air (OTA) software updates and remote diagnostics. Daedong aims to grow its European revenue from KRW 132.2 billion in 2026 to KRW 258.3 billion by 2030. It also plans to increase its market share from 2.3% to 6% and expand its dealer network from 551 locations across 26 countries to 900.
