Daedong Metals Expands High-Value Precision Casting Orders: On Track for This Year’s KRW 70 Billion Target
-. Expansion into high-value industries such as shipbuilding, generators and semiconductor equipment is intensifying, with this year’s order target up 45% year on year.
-. Last year’s new orders of KRW 48.4 billion, revenue of KRW 101.8 billion and a return to operating profit laid the groundwork for improved performance.
-. Advanced materials and links to the Group’s future businesses will support efforts to achieve the 2030 revenue target of KRW 240 billion.
Daedong Metals (independent representatives: Kim Jun-Sik and Lee Pung-woo), Daedong Group’s specialist in cast materials and components, announced on June 16, 2026, that it is expanding its order portfolio into high-value industries such as shipbuilding, generators, industrial machinery and semiconductor equipment, accelerating efforts to achieve this year’s order target of KRW 70 billion, up 45% year on year.
Daedong Metals is a specialist in cast materials and components that originated in Daedong’s foundry division in 1947. Since its establishment, it has reliably supplied key components for automobiles, agricultural machinery and industrial equipment, growing into a cornerstone of Korea’s foundry industry. More recently, while maintaining the competitiveness of its core automotive and agricultural machinery businesses, the company has been strengthening its cost competitiveness, quality and casting technology to respond proactively to structural shifts in industry. It is also diversifying orders into high-value precision casting fields, including marine engines, generators, industrial machinery and semiconductor equipment.
Components used in these fields must withstand demanding operating conditions, including high temperatures, high pressures, vibration and vacuum environments. This requires rigorous quality control in areas such as dimensional accuracy, durability, airtightness and surface quality. These are therefore seen as high-value industries where orders are concentrated among companies with customer certifications and proven reliability in mass production.
Through its business diversification strategy, Daedong Metals secured the highest value of new orders in its history. Last year, it won orders totaling KRW 35.6 billion, including marine engine components for Hanwha Engine and vehicle engine components for global company K. It also secured KRW 12.8 billion in new orders for semiconductor vacuum pump components. This brought total annual orders to KRW 48.4 billion, equivalent to approximately 48% of its 2025 revenue. Since entering the semiconductor equipment components market in 2012 by supplying parts to Edwards, Daedong Metals has continued to expand its business in this sector, strengthening its position in supply chains for advanced industries.

The diversification of its order portfolio is also translating into improved financial performance. Daedong Metals posted revenue of KRW 101.8 billion and operating profit of KRW 100 million last year, returning to profitability. Revenue from customers outside the Group accounted for 87.8% of total revenue last year, up 2.1 percentage points from 2023, demonstrating tangible progress in diversifying its customer base and industry portfolio.
New orders are also progressing well this year. Daedong Metals secured KRW 27.9 billion in new orders in H1 2026 alone, with generator engine components accounting for approximately 56% of those orders amid growth in AI-based industries such as power grids. The company’s new-order target for this year is up to KRW 70 billion, and it is stepping up its push into overseas markets to secure more than KRW 41 billion in additional orders in H2 2026. It has placed particular emphasis on Japan, securing Japanese customers for construction equipment and hydraulic equipment components, including Komutesco and KYB, last year. It plans to pursue additional orders for industrial machinery and semiconductor equipment components in Japan in H2 2026.
Through these efforts, the company plans to diversify its industry portfolio beyond its traditional agricultural machinery and automotive casting businesses into high-value precision casting fields, including shipbuilding, generators, industrial machinery and semiconductor equipment. It also aims to accelerate corporate value enhancement (“value-up”) over the medium to long term. At the same time, drawing on its manufacturing capabilities in materials and components, it is preparing to expand into materials for future industries, including ultralight materials for robotics and mobility components, in connection with the Group’s future businesses.
