Daedong's GX Tractor wins at the “2024 Good Design Awards”

Daedong (Co-CEOs Kim Jun-Sik and Won Yu-Hyun), leader and pioneer in future agriculture, shared on September 11 that its premium tractor - the GX series - was chose for its excellent industrial design (i.e. a GOOD DESIGN product) in the Transportation category at the “2024 Good Design Awards (GOOD DESIGN KOREA).”
The Good Design Awards is hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion, and it has been the most prestigious design award in Korea since 1985 (hosted annually). The “GOOD DESIGN” mark is awarded to products that are recognized for their excellence through a comprehensive evaluation of the design, appearance, function, and economy of all products available domestically.
As for the main reason why it won the award, Daedong pointed toward its new design philosophy, “Ultimate Refinement,” applied to the GX Tractor. “Ultimate Refinement” is a design philosophy that visualizes the power and dynamism that signal toward the performance of Daedong tractors in a three-dimensional way with a powerful arrangement of proportions and refined details. In fact, Daedong has been using this philosophy on all of its tractors since 2022. By doing so, the company is establishing the same “family look” to deliver a consistent, high-quality brand image and product experience to all customers regardless of which model they use.
The exterior of the GX features a healthy dose of Daedong’s identity (i.e. signature) color, red, along with bits of charcoal gray and black to create a strong impression. Meanwhile, the interior is a two-tone arrangement with a new beige color and the more familiar darker color to create a more premium feel. Various materials have been applied to touch points that come into contact with the user's body, such as the lever grip, armrest, and headliner, to improve the affective quality inside cabin, and the lever and work switches are mostly on the right hand side to make them easier to use.
Another thing users might notice is the ergonomic design, which makes the tractor more convenient and efficient to use. Specifically, the air suspension seat guarantees a comfortable ride, and the dust-proofing has been upgraded along with better sound-absorbing materials to reduce work noise and vibration by 11% and 50%, respectively. Also, an arch-shaped front window and a large transparent sunroof have been installed in order to secure the widest forward view as possible for the operator when working with a loader, and the five-post cabin (with five glass windows) allows for easy ventilation and opening on the left and right sides to provide a comfortable indoor environment. To improve work efficiency at night, the GX Tractor comes with the industry's first rear 40W work light and LED work lights (four in the front, two in the rear), helping create a work environment that is more than twice as bright as before.
Meanwhile, Daedong wants to develop the GX Tractor into a steady-seller that sells more than 1,000 units per year in Korea, it will make a strong push in the North American and European utility tractor markets to hit KRW 750 billion mark in cumulative sales by 2028. Starting this month, the company plans on rolling out the GX5910 (58.3hp), GX6710 (66.4hp), and GX7510 (73.1hp), and overseas as RX6640 (66.4hp) and RX7340 (73.1hp), which come with slightly different engine specs and options, in Korea.
