Daedong tractors and combines ranked no. 1 in the 2024 Korean Standard - Quality Excellence Index (KS-QEI)
- Daedong tractors have been ranked no. 1 for four consecutive years since 2021, and combines have been ranked no. 1 for two consecutive years, proving their competitiveness on the market
- After passing the industry's first national level-3 autonomous driving test last year, Daedong tractors and combines now come equipped with the latest in autonomous driving technology
Daedong (Co-CEOs Kim Jun-sik and Won Yu-hyun), a leader in future agriculture, announced on November 7 that it was selected as the no. 1 company in the agricultural machinery sector by the 2024 Korean Standard-Quality Excellence Index (KS-QEI) compiled by the Korea Standards Association (KSA; Chairperson Kang Myeong-soo).
The KS-QEI is a quality evaluation model jointly developed by the KSA and the Korean Society for Quality Management in 2004, and it measures the excellence in quality and satisfaction among consumers and experts with experience using the product. This year, 119 products from 388 companies were evaluated in two different categories, usability, which measured performance, reliability, durability, usability, safety, and accessibility, and emotional quality, which consisted of qualities such as image, recognition, and novelty.
A survey was conducted from June to September of this year via online (for consumers) and 1-on-1 individual interviews (for experts). Results clearly showed that Daedong's tractors and combines received the highest scores and took first place. In particular, Daedong tractors have proven their excellence both domestically and internationally, taking first place for four consecutive years since 2021, and combines have now taken first place for two consecutive years.
The company is prioritizing the advancement of autonomous driving features with the goal of “robotizing agricultural machinery.” To that point, in the second half of last year, Daedong passed the national autonomous driving test for straight and turning movements equivalent to level-3 autonomous driving for agricultural machinery for the first time in the industry, and launched the HX tractor and DH6135 combine both equipped with its latest technology. Then, in April this year, the company released the GX medium-sized tractor also capable of autonomous operations, expanding its autonomous tractor lineup from large to medium-sized tractors.
In particular, the GX tractor was developed with an investment of approximately KRW 20 billion over four years, and it boasts an ergonomic design, various high-tech-based convenience functions, and a remote control function. Daedong wants to grow the GX tractor as a steady seller in the domestic mid-sized tractor market, which sells more than 1,000 units per year, and the company is strengthening its strategy for North American/European utility tractors, with a target set to KRW 750 billion in cumulative sales by 2028.
