Daedong Mobility (CEO Won Yu-hyun), Daedong Group’s subsidiary specializing in smart mobility solutions, announced on November 12 that it will begin distributing electric scooters to small business owners across Seoul.
In order to help small business owners deliver their products in a more eco-friendly manner, Daedong Mobility joined a business agreement for the “distribution of electric two-wheeled vehicles and creation of a safe usage environment” led by the Seoul Metropolitan City Government and the Ministry of Environment on November 7. A total of eight organizations signed up for this agreement, including Jongno-gu and Dongdaemun-gu Governments, the Korea Federation of Micro Enterprise, LG Energy Solution, which is in charge of the battery exchange station business, and other electric scooter manufacturers.
As per the terms of the agreement, Daedong Mobility plans to provide up to 300 of its electric scooters, the GS100 series, to small business owners across Seoul this year. To expand distribution, special discounts will be on offer for Daedong products, and thanks to a revision of the “Minimum Contribution Regulations” set by the Seoul Metropolitan City Government and the Ministry of Environment, as well as subsidies from LG Energy Solution, small business owners will be able to purchase electric scooters without any additional costs. Daedong Mobility plans to continue expanding the number of units distributed through proactive cooperation with the institutions that participated in the agreement until 2026 and develop additional electric scooters specialized for small business owners.
The GS100 series distributed to small business owners is a high-quality electric scooter product, and 92% of every unit is produced domestically using Daedong Group's outstanding technology. Repairs and services are fast thanks to a nationwide service network and because most of the important parts are produced locally. Moreover, the GS100 series is easier to use with an improved telematics system that provides various functions including front/rear dash cams and remote control of the vehicle.
Another key feature is that the total cost of ownership (TCO) after purchasing the product, including replacement of consumables and fuel costs, is lower than that of a scooter powered by an internal combustion engine. In particular, an unlimited charging option will become available with a monthly subscription plan at LG Energy Solution's Battery Swap Station (BSS), which could save users around KRW 3 million per year.
