Daedong Agtech Secures KRW 15 Billion Investment, Accelerating its Commercialization of AI Agriculture

-. Investors recognize the group’s competitiveness, including Daedong Agtech’s leadership, data pipeline, and AI development capabilities
-. Investment concentrated in precision agriculture, smart farming, and other core businesses, with the company also participating in smart farm operations
-. Advancing toward becoming an AI tech company that leads agricultural hyper-intelligence through robot-based precision agriculture solutions and a smart farming platform

Daedong Agtech (CEO Won Yu-hyun), Daedong Group’s future agriculture platform and solutions company, announced on October 28 that it has secured KRW 15 billion in investment only three years after its establishment.

The investment was led by Korea Development Bank and Smilegate Investment. The two institutions reportedly decided to invest based on their assessment that Daedong Group has secured strong competitiveness in AI agriculture through a vertically integrated structure that spans hardware, including agricultural machinery and agricultural robots, and AI and autonomous driving software. Daedong also noted that the group holds extensive agricultural data essential to developing AI agricultural software, and that it is building a “data pipeline” that continuously collects field data through the agricultural equipment it supplies domestically and overseas. The company believes its robust global sales network, which provides sufficient potential for international sales of AI agricultural products and services, played a key role in the investment decision as well.

Since its establishment in 2022, Daedong Agtech has strengthened its position by commercializing connected solutions for the group’s agricultural business, including remote vehicle diagnostics, automated farming log records, and AI-based early disaster alerts. To develop Korea’s first AI tractor, which is scheduled for launch next year, the company has collected approximately 500,000 orchard and field images and about three million driving videos over the past three years. It has also built a Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) framework to support the application of various models and continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD). Daedong Agtech has additionally implemented a yield analysis service by zone and field using smart combines, and introduced “AI Daedongi,” the nation’s first agriculture-focused chatbot based on a large language model (LLM).

The newly secured funds will be directed toward developing AI agriculture technologies in the company’s core businesses: connected solutions, precision agriculture, and smart farming. Daedong Agtech plans to expand the scope of its DHCU-based vehicle diagnostics service and is developing a feature that will allow users to order parts directly through the app based on diagnostic results. The company is enhancing autonomous operation using ADCU 2.0 and advancing the development of the TMU (TMS receiver terminal) and integrated display systems. In addition, Daedong Agtech is working with Naver Cloud to develop a sovereign AI–based agricultural agent. It is also accelerating development of growth monitoring and fertilizer prescription map generation technologies using KT’s satellite services.

To further advance its greenhouse growth solutions, the company plans to participate directly in smart farm operations, enabling it to secure more farm management data and reinforce field validation of its technologies. Looking forward, Daedong Agtech aims to evolve into an AI tech company that leads the hyper-intelligent transformation of agriculture. Under its vision of becoming a global agritech leader, the company plans to complete its robot-based precision agriculture solutions and smart farming platform.
