Daedong Robotics Appoints Robotics Expert Kang Seong-cheol as New CEO to Accelerate AI Field Robotics Business

-. New CEO Kang brings 35 years of experience leading robotics development projects across diverse industries

-. Company to pursue “Two-Ups” strategy to drive revenue growth and enhance corporate value alongside product scale-up and advanced robotics capabilities

-. Daedong Group to accelerate the development of Korea’s only AI field robotics full-stack system

Daedong Robotics, the AI robotics subsidiary of Daedong Group, announced on February 26 that it has appointed Kang Seong-cheol, currently Vice President of Daedong Mobility, as its new CEO.

This appointment comes as the group accelerates its transition toward becoming an “AI field robotics full-stack company” and moves beyond the technology validation phase of its robotics products into full-scale commercialization. Kang is a robotics expert who has led development projects across a wide range of industries, including defense, medical, home appliances, and manufacturing, over a 35-year career at KIST and Samsung Electronics. He joined Daedong Mobility in April last year as Vice President of the Robotics Product Division. He is widely regarded as the optimal leader to strengthen the competitiveness of Daedong Group’s global robotics business, given his deep expertise and industry insight in robotics development. Alongside his new role, Kang will continue to serve as Vice President of the Product Division at Daedong Mobility, overseeing development and production. He is expected to further enhance synergies across the group’s robotics businesses by advancing Daedong Mobility’s role as a robotics manufacturing foundry.

Daedong Robotics is advancing toward becoming a leading provider of AI robotics for agriculture and field-based industries, covering everything from AI robot manufacturing to integrated operational services under its vision of becoming “the world’s leading AI field robotics company.” As the group’s dedicated affiliate for robotics development and business operations, the company is further accelerating the commercialization and market expansion of field robots. Since launching its autonomous agricultural transport robot last year, it has continued to strengthen its technological competitiveness by internalizing core capabilities, including voice recognition technology and control systems such as VCU (Vehicle Control Unit) and ACU (Actuator Control Unit).

Notably, its autonomous transport robot became the first agricultural robot to receive the New Technology Agricultural Machinery certification from the Rural Development Administration last year. The company has also formed an “Agriculture and Field AI Robotics Industry Development Council” in collaboration with leading domestic companies to promote robotics business partnerships. Its business scope is expanding beyond agriculture into a wide range of field-based industries, highlighted by the CES 2026 Innovation Award for the golf course robot “Divot Fix,” jointly developed with HL Group.

Daedong Robotics is pursuing the following strategies under its 2026 goal of achieving “Two-Ups” in revenue growth and enhanced corporate value. On the revenue front, the company aims to strengthen product competitiveness by expanding sales of autonomous transport robots and focusing on “2-in-1” robots capable of both mowing and spraying operations. To support global expansion, it plans to establish a foundation for entering overseas markets through technology partnerships with leading field robotics companies and proof of concept (POC) projects with large-scale agricultural corporations. In parallel, it will expand strategic collaborations with leading companies in field industries such as manufacturing, logistics, and construction, with the goal of broadening its business scope from agriculture to the wider field industry sector.

From a corporate value perspective, the company will continue to internalize core robotics AI technologies such as autonomous driving and autonomous operations, while simultaneously advancing the development of next-generation robots, including facility-based agricultural humanoids. It will also enhance its AI robotics collaboration capabilities by expanding strategic partnerships both domestically and globally, and plans to secure Series A investment within the first quarter of 2026.

Meanwhile, Daedong Group is accelerating the establishment of Korea’s only “AI field robotics full-stack system,” encompassing the entire value chain from data and physical AI to robot design, development, components, mass production, and sales. Within the group, Daedong serves as the control tower responsible for strategy, validation, and sales, while roles are distributed across affiliates: ▲Daedong AgTech (data and platforms) ▲Daedong AI Lab (physical AI) ▲Daedong Robotics (design and development) ▲Daedong Gear (drive systems and components) ▲Daedong Mobility (mass production). The group continues to strengthen synergies through close collaboration among its affiliates.
