- Daedong Mobility is to manufacture and supply electric motorcycles and charging stations, and develop insurance and rental services for riders
- KT linkus to develop charging sites linked to major commercial areas, and Easy Charger to distribute chargers and manage operation
Daedong Mobility (CEO Yu-Hyun Won), a smart mobility subsidiary of Daedong Group, together with E-mobility charging solution company Easy Charger (CEO Bong-joon Song) and public telephone-based spatial platform company KT linkus (CEO Chung-sung Kim) announced on the 10th that they have signed a ‘tripartite MOU’ to promote the distribution of electric motorcycles and charging infrastructure.
Along with the growth of the delivery logistics industry, the domestic market for electric motorcycles increased from about 12,000 units in 2019 to about 18,000 units in 2021. Continuous growth is expected in the market, as Seoul has established a policy to replace all private delivery vehicles with electric motorcycles by 2025. Based on 75 years’ worth of experience specializing in agricultural machinery and industrial equipment manufacturing, Daedong developed a safe and convenient electric motorcycle optimized for delivery riders purely using Korean technology. Mass production of these vehicles begin next year after registration to the Ministry of Environment.
In supplying electric motorcycles and establishing charging infrastructure, Daedong aims to speed up market penetration through strategic cooperation with KT linkus and Easy Charger. In line with this, Daedong plans to offer advanced rental and insurance service programs based on connected and IoT for riders, and to supply shared batteries for the electric motorcycle charging business.
